Writings > Every Man, Woman and Child

Much of my poetry has dealt with relationships and gender-based issues in the context
of being a single father embroiled in a protracted divorce proceeding.*

I was a front-line activist seeking reforms to laws that discriminate against men and, contrary to erroneous claims, are not in the best interest of children. The adverse effects of divorce on children and societal ills from father absenteeism (disenfranchisement) are well documented.

I was privileged to have worked alongside notable activists such as senator Anne Cools,
Dr. Warren Farrell and individuals associated with Everyman Magazine. The Sage Caution Anne McLellan (1999) is a self-published chapbook and a polemic of sorts that chronicles some of my adventures in the Canadian legal system; the epoch of the fathers' rights movement.

In 2002, I more or less put the topic to rest with my Portland installations that touched on macro-political and ideological aspects of gender equality in a post-9/11 world that saw the conflation, among other things, of bikini and burka.
